Welcome to ancient Rome. In its day Rome was the center of the world and the most powerful nation on the face of the earth. Through military conquest and wise governing, the Romans spread their culture to the edges of the known world. All subsequent western nations have been influenced by thier successes and failures.

Yet after 500 years of success, the Roman Republic gave way to the Roman Empire. In the 5th century A.D. the Empire dissolved completely. Rome had been a world power for nearly 1,000 years.
